I am looking for a more natural sunblock for my children ...

I would recommend our SUN SCREEN SPF 18 WITH OAT PROTEIN COMPLEX for your children. Our SPF 18 uses the mineral Titanium Dioxide in a micronized form that literally coats the skin and blocks sunrays from reaching it. The downside is that SPF 18 is as high as you can get in this product. Plus it does need to be applied fairly liberally
... at least more so than the chemical blocks. I have used it on all 6 of my children with great success ... I even use it myself.

What exactly IS Titanium Dioxide?

Titanium Dioxide is a physical block. It is a mineral and is inert; thus does not cause a reaction or breakout. Titanium Dioxide ... in a super fine powder ... provides a physical sun block and works by blocking and scattering sunlight rather than absorbing it as the chemical sun screens do. It is safe to use on children.

Minimum suggested age for usage is 6 months. For children younger than 6 months, parents should seek a doctor's opinion.

Do Kiss My Face Suncare products contain chemicals?

The only "unnatural" ingredients are the perservatives Methyl- and Propyl- paraben.  These are necessary to prevent harmful bacteria from developing in the natural ingredients we use ... a problem for any natural product. 

What is Oat protein and Oat Beta-glucan?

No sun screen is 100% effective.  Normal activities ... swimming, playing, etc... reduce the amount left on the skin.  Thus the need for oat protein.

Oat protein and oat Beta-glucan are patented ingredients derived from oats that are anti-inflammatory and anti-itch as well as reduce irritation and inflammation.  They are also non-reactive.  These two ingredients, by absorbing the free radicals caused by infrared rays, acts as natural anti-oxidants, reduces the damage caused by free radicals and reduces the formation of sunburn cells .

How long will the sunscreen last?

Our spf18 Sunscreen will last virtually indefinitely as the Titanium Dioxide does not lose its ability to act as a physical sun block.  The only thing you need to watch for is spoilage as any natural product has a finite life span.

The sun blocks we use in our spf 30 sun screen (and other products) begin to oxidize and breakdown as soon as they are exposed to air and should be used within one year.  Unopened bottles have a longer shelf life of 3-5 years.  As with any sunscreen using these FDA approved chemical sun blocks, we recommend using a new, unopened bottle each season.
